Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1) by Jeaniene Frost

This was an awesome book!
Catherine Crawford is a halfbreed of vampire and human. Her human mother was raped by an infant vampire that produced Cat five months later. She found out about her father when she was 16 or so and hasn't had an easy life since.

She's vowed to her mother to kill any and all vampires she comes across because she has a sixth sense at being able to locate them if they are near by. Until one night she spots a vampire that turns her down.....

What she didn't know was that he was stalking the vampire she ends up staking that night. He meets up with her in the following nights, kidnaps her, and finds out that she is just what he's needing. A new partner. With much assault she agrees to work with him. She undergoes weeks of brutal training from him. Oh, his name is Bones. Yeah, a weird name but it all makes sense when he later explains where it comes from.

They work great together. She's the bait and he's the backup. She's a real kick ass killer. She's armed with wooden wrapped silver stakes she keeps in her boots along with knives and stars she keeps up her sleeves or legs.

They end up going after a very powerful vampire who is harvesting young women that won't be missed to sell to other vampires or whomever else has a nasty need for young girls. Cat was even targeted as one but she was able to fight her way out of it.

Of course Cat and Bones end up falling in love. However, it's not so easy for Cat to let that emotion come over her and even more so she doesn't want to hurt her mother.

This book was full of action. Lots of awesome fighting, funny dialogue, and an incredible story line. I'm sooo looking forward to the next book due out April 29th!

10/10!
