Gadget: Bookmark II

I saw this on OhGizmo!

oh_gizmo_logo_large

It’s a pretty cool bookmark. There’s no information on how to obtain it but it’s allegedly produced by Propaganda. Check out Oh Gizmo! for the other pictures.

Notice the line that’s being “marked”. ;)

I think it’s pretty cool. What about you?

September 2009 Smashing Mag Desktop Calendars

I use a new desktop wallpaper calendar every month thanks to the amazingly cool monthly desktop calendars hosted at Smashing Magazine’s web site.

Smashing Mag

Each month people create desktop wallpaper calendars for anyone to use. It’s awesome. There’s usually at least 10 – 20 to chose from.

This month I’ll be using “Colors of Autumn”. I don’t love the calendar starting with Monday but it’s too cute to not use! Also, I’ve switched them through out the month if there are others that I like too.

Check them out! Will you use one?

My BEA T-Shirt!

So, I decided that I would do some self promoting while walking the aisles at BEA. What better way than to wear it!

Here's the FRONT:

And the BACK:

Click for larger images...I think.

I created this shirt with the help of Zazzle.com. I just put the text I wanted and uploaded some select book covers of some of my recent favorite books. I wanted to be relevant so I didn't pick anything that's too old. Actually at least 2 of the books featured on my shirt haven't even been released yet. Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev releases July 7th and Prey (Werecats, book 4) by Rachel Vincent releases July 1. The other book covers featured are:

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
Stargazer (Evernight, Book 2) by Claudia Gray
The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld, Book 3) by Gena Showalter (the sexiest cover of the series IMO)
Bone Crossed (Mercy Thomson, Book 4) by Patricia Briggs
Dayhunter (Dark Days, Book 2) by Jocelynn Drake
Passion Unleashed (Demonica, Book 3) by Larissa Ione
The Vampire's Bride (Atlantis, Book 4) by Gena Showalter
At Grave's End (Night Huntress, Book 3) by Jeanine Frost

So, if you see some lady walking around with this shirt at BEA....IT'S ME!

Kindle DX!

The Amazon Kindle DX was announced yesterday and is now live on Amazon.com for pre-order!

The Amazon Kindle DX has a 9.7" diagonal e-ink display and a $489 price tag.

It's massive compared to the smaller Kindle, which I <3.

Kindle DX: Amazon's New Addition To the Kindle Family

What do you think?

I think it's pretty cool! I don't think I'd use one for my everyday reading but I think it would be neat to use for text books, newspapers, magazines (if color were an option only!) and the like.

I could see this being a huge hit if it were in color. Not so much as black and white. Why isn't it in color yet!?

Kindle for iPhone! Available Now!

imageHow cool is this!? You can now sync your iPhone with your Kindle! Yup, you can read the same book on two different devices and they will automatically sync and keep track of where you left off. The Kindle for iPhone app is now available for download via your iPhone.

I downloaded it today and tried it out. It's pretty cool. It's obviously not a very big reading screen but it works. So, if you don't really want to carry your Kindle everywhere you don't have to!

Of course you have to have an iPhone too.....

What do you think? Pretty cool? I think it's nifty. I'll fill you in on how often I end up using it.

Roswell!

I LOVE this series! It's old, from 1999, but it's awesome! It has Katherine Heigl from Grey's Anatomy in it. And it's sooooo much like Twilight it's not even funny! The premise is the same any way and it's great, if not even better than Twilight. They totally should have made Twilight a series and not a motion picture. More money from a movie I guess.

Roswell
Left to Right above: Isabel Evans (Katherine Heigl), Max Evans (Jason Behr), Liz Parker (Shiri Appleby), and Michael Guerin (Brenden Fehr)

Max (Edward) is an alien. He outs himself as one to save Liz's (Bella) life after she is shot in the chest at the Crash Down diner. They create a bond instantly. Everyone is suspicious but they manage to cover it up only by the hair of their chiny chin chins. Max has a sister, Isabel, played by Katherine Heigl, and a best friend, Michael.

I've watched all 22 issues of season 1 for free on Hulu.com. I've added season 2 to my queue on Blockbuster.com and can't wait to get them in the mail. Hubby needs to watch some and return his!

I highly recommend watching this series but if you like it by the 4th or 5th episode I'd recommend getting season 2 lined up some way or form, cause you will want to watch more by the time you get to the last episode of season 1. There are only 3 seasons of this show. I really hope it ends well and not leaving me feeling lacking. That would be a bummer.

Have you already watched this series? What did you think? Can you compare it to Twilight?

Chocolate Keyboard!

Yummy! I'd eat it.

This would be an interesting gift for a geek. A chocolate keyboard.

This was designed by Michael Sholk, a St. Petersburg, Russia based designer. You can check out more of his designs at his website.

Feedyourshelf.com

Here's a new bookshelf managing website!
It's still in beta mode if you want to take a look.

Feed Your Shelf Logo

I just went a few minutes ago. I don't like it. :(
It's very pretty but it's pretty hard to navigate. I wanted to add the current book I'm reading, The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance, but it couldn't find it. So, I added another book and it worked.

This site is quite different than Shelfari.com. They don't put the book face out, but rather a blank spine. It has a cool rating system. I can't seem to figure out how to put a review up. I guess that's a feature to come after the beta.

Take a look. What do you think? I think I'll come back later when they've finalized.

Periscope Book Light

Now if I didn't read a Kindle I would be buying one of these!
How cool is that? I have a clip light that I attach to my Kindle every night to read in bed.
However, I just finished The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter and it was a traditional paperback and I would have preferred a product like this!

For $35-$39 it isn't a bad investment.

What Color Are You?

Thanks to Leigh Ann for the link!
It's mostly true!

Take this test!
You're brown, a credible, stable color that's reminiscent of fine wood, rich leather, and wistful melancholy. Most likely, you're a logical, practical person ruled more by your head than your heart. With your inquisitive mind and insatiable curiosity, you're probably a great problem solver. And you always gather all of the facts before coming to a timely, informed decision. Easily intrigued, you're constantly finding new ways to challenge your mind, whether it's by reading the newspaper, playing a trivia game, or composing a piece of music. Brown is an impartial, neutral color, which means you tend to see the difference between fact and opinion easily and are open to many points of view. Trustworthy and steady, you really are a brown at heart.

Digital Tattoo Interface

This was a "notable entry" to the Greener Gadgets Design Competition 2008. If you ask me, I think it's brilliant and could see it developed and used.

It seems a bit scary to have it attached to an artery but then again this seems like a logical step into the future. It would be great to have a 24/7 blood monitor system installed. Imagine the possibilities.
