She has posted the partial draft on her site so readers can enjoy what little she has written.

Prepare!

I'm preparing for our beach trip today.
We leave tomorrow morning.

In preparing I scheduled my car's state inspection for Thursday, yesterday.
I had a broken windsheild and made plans for that to be replaced the same day so it would pass inspection.

Then I got the call.....from the shop stating that there were numerous things that needed replaced to pass inspection.

Here's a brief glimpse:
Wipers
rear rotors
rear breaks (AWD FTL!)
Break fluid flush (recommended)

And then the BIGGIE:
leaking transmission fluid

My total bill is expected at $1,400!!!!
I also asked for an oil change, tire rotate, tire pressure fixed, tire pressure checker recalibrate.
That's more than we budgeted for the entire beach trip!

Oh well. As I like to think it's better done now then later when that leak could possibly been a pour and an accident waiting to happen. And the $3,000 to replace the transmission. Um, yeah, no thanks!

So, I'll be away all next week. Probably taking my laptop but I'm not sure if I'll have the time to post. I'm taking my Kindle so there will be plenty to read! I'm excited about that. I'm also taking a big ziploc bag to prevent water/sand damage.

Have a great week!

Pleasure Unbound: A Demonica Novel (The Demonica Series) by Larissa Ione

This was an excellent book!

Synopsis from Larrisa Ione's website:

In a place where ecstasy can cost you your life…

She’s a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure—but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.

Two lovers will dare to risk all.

Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she is avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his desire to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable—and let Tayla possess him, body and soul…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very much like J.R. Ward's Black Dagger series. Not quite as intense but intense nonetheless. Very compelling and I want to read more.
10/10!
From Dead to Worse (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 8) by Charlaine Harris
So hearing about the upcoming HBO series of this book series got me excited about reading the current release.
I was putting it off cause I knew it would be good.
Sookie continues allying with the vampires, weres, fae, and witches. She never has a normal day without being stalked, attacked, or kissed by at least one person. Her love life is still up in the air. Quinn abandoned her for his mom and sister and Eric finally remembers his time he spent with her but he doesn't act upon it what-so-ever! Sam is still a really nice boss/guy and her brother Jason is still an egotistocal dickhead.
She finds out that she has a great-grandfather, which is cool. The vampires have a falling out and the werewolves lose an alpha.
The ending was all of a sudden in this book. I finished last night thinking, "Really?". It just ended, without much of an ending.
I haven't seen any info on book # 9, so I do hope to find out some info soon!
9/10! - cause of the ending, WTF?
Don't forget the series starts September 7th at 9:00 p.m. on HBO!
Nightwalker (Dark Days, Book 1) by Jocelynn Drake
I chose to read this book as a recommendation from Rachel Vincent.
I'm so very glad I did!
Mira is a 600+ vampire who has just meet Danaus, a vampire hunter who is killing vampires in her territory. They meet, they fight, her tells her that he has a naturi, who tortured Mira, held captive in his basement. And the action doesn't stop there! They end up joining forces to battle the waking force of the naturi that are trying to open the portal to the other dimension where their naturi queen is being held. Trying to summarize this is seeming harder than I thought!
Anyhow, it's an amazing book full of kick ass scenes, some sexual tension (that doesn't get resolved!!!!), and an awesome story line. Totally a series that I will be quaking to get my hands on the next book.
10/10!!
Cry Wolf (Alpha and Omega, Book 1) by Patricia Briggs
Again, I'm a HUGE fan of shape shifting books. And Patricia Briggs is just about the best author I've found, another fav is Rachel Vincent.
Anyhow, this is basically a series that runs along side Briggs other Mercy Thompson series. I was trying to see where the time overlaps were in this story with the Mercy series but it was hard to pin point. Samuel was basically the only character that overlapped but it was very minute to make a difference in the Mercy series.
Any how, this book was about the Marrok's son, Charles, finding and claiming his mate, Anna. Anna was rescued from the Chicago pack where she was routinely brutalized by her pack via her Alpha's command. Why? Because she's an Omega and they didn't want her to know that.
An Omega is like an Alpha. She can stand alone, not taking orders or submission from an Alpha. She holds the power to claim all weres around her; even strays.
The story centered around a Black Witch that has recked hell on the Montana pack by killing humans in the nearby forests. The deaths and disappearences have caused the Marrok to believe that they are getting too much unwanted attention from outsiders. They must send their best, Charles, out to stop the rogue that is causing the deaths before any one else is killed. Charles and Anna go together to help florish their growing relationship. Their wolves have agreed to be mates, however, Anna is still feeling the effects of her past. Once out in the wilderness in the middle of a brutal winter Charles and Anna find out that it's not a lone rogue out killing, it's a Black Witch, meaning an powerful, evil witch.
Will they be able to stamp out the evil witch, return unharmed, and be mated?
Loved this book! Was just awesome. Can't wait for more Patricia Briggs novels. Bone Crossed is set to release February 3, 2009.
TrueBlood - Charlaine Harris Series turned HBO
So I just found out that there is going to be a HBO series centering around Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels! It will debut on HBO on September 7th at 9:00 pm.
It's to be a direct adaption of her novels with a little bit of a change for the secondary characters in the novels. The best part, I think, is that Anna Paquin is playing Sookie. She played Marie/Rogue in X-Men.
I'm not crazy about this image though. Sookie is not a vampire and this is definitely a woman. I was trying to see if I could remember a woman vampire from the story but I can't. I remember the one fairy (or something) that guards Sookie, but I don't thin she had fangs either. Oh well. It's definitely intreguing. Also the name of the series "True Blood" is kinda cool.
I don't subsribe to HBO but I think I might for this show. Otherwise, I'll have to figure out another way to watch it before it comes out on DVD.
Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4) by Stephenie Meyer
So, I was so excited about getting this book that I think I worked myself up way too much.
I went to the midnight release at the local Borders and purchased the book. I stayed up until about 4:00 am that night. I didn't put it down all day Saturday, and stayed up again until 4:00 am reading. I repeated the same for Sunday and finished Monday at 4:00 am.
A lot goes down in this final book. So much that can't be said without ruining the book for anyone who hasn't read it. I think I can comment on my favorite section of the book without hurting anyone's experience and that would be the honeymoon. I'm used to reading pretty graphic adult romance so this experience was cooled down a lot but it still did Edward and Bella justice.
My least favorite part is the ending chapters. I just found it lacking. I know it wraps the story up nice and tight but I wanted more excitement. I didn't get that.
I've found myself mopping about now that the story is over. With the ending not my fave and it actually being over I'm highly depressed. I believe I'll be dapping back into some awesome fan fiction, which I can say some were much better than what Stephenie actually put out. Oh well.
I do hope she decides to write more stories that center around Edward and Bella or the rest of the family.
I'm still a lover of Twilight, the first book, as it was my ultimate favorite. Therefore, I will be looking forward to reading Midnight Sun, Edward's point of view of Twilight. The first chapter is available on Stephenie's website and it is amazing. That first book, just WOW. Second book blew for me, third book was better than the second but not as good as the first, and the last book was just okay.
I came out of this ordeal with 2 copies of the hardback and the Kindle Edition.
