Jen & Wyatt

Jen is getting Wyatt this Friday afternoon until Monday. She will continue to get him for the entire weekend until around June 15, which is when they expect she'll get him back for good.

I'm thrilled to hear this.

Hearing on Monday

Mom was over this evening. She said Jen has a hearing on Monday at 2:00 pm. They should be able to decide if Wyatt can go home with Jen. Eric has moved out and in with his aunt. Mom is planning to attend on Monday. She asked that I go shopping with her on Sunday to buy a nice outfit. That'll be fun.

It's technically my birthday already.

Abuser?

Mom just called me at work and told me that Eric has confessed to the injuries that Wyatt has received.
I don't know anything else beyond this.

I know that Patrick is planning to attend the court hearing on Thursday. However, with this new information I'm not sure if it will still go on as scheduled. It may still be planned in order to release Wyatt from the hospital and into Jen's care. Hopefully it will result in Jen getting Wyatt back.

I don't think she and Wyatt should live in Eric's parents home anymore. They need to live in a much more stable and loving home from now on out. I'll talk to Patrick this evening to see what we can do to help them out.

Will update when I know more.

Updates?

Message from Mom:
I went to the meeting this morning and they were supposed to sign papers. They both refused and the woman said "I will sign them for you". They told her that they refused because they are not guilty of the abuse.

They are getting an attorney. Eric's dad is getting a 2nd mortgage to pay for it.

I am going Thursday at 1:00p.m. to the Court House to be there for moral support for them.

I don't know what else I can do for them at this point of time.

Taking Wyatt

Franklin: Children & Youth Service

Mom just called crying, they have concluded that Wyatt's injuries do not match the testimonies that Jen and Eric gave. They stated that his injuries have not been owned up by anyone.

We'll find out more on Thursday when they see a judge.

Sad times.

Children of the Youth

Jen and Eric met with Children of the Youth this morning to determine their involvement, or lack there of, in the abuse of Wyatt. Mom said they separated them into different conference rooms and asked them questions about the days before them taking him to the hospital and so forth. She also mentioned that no one told COTY about Wyatt's recesitation in Waynesboro Hospital the first time he was admitted to Hershey. The chest compressions certainly could have caused his fractured ribs. Mom said they will be performing a MRI on Wyatt today to see if there are any more bone fractures. Jen and Eric should hear back from COTY today. Jen has requested, in case of removal of Wyatt from their care, that either Mom/Dad or Patrick/I take care of Wyatt until this is all taken care of. I would be thrilled to care for Wyatt and so would Patrick. I just hope this is all taken care of and everyone can get back to worrying about normal worries rather than worrying about a child being taken from it's loving parents.

Wyatt Update

Mom and Dad stopped by early this evening and brought a letter they had received about the investigation against the "abuser" of Wyatt.

They updated us with news from the hospital. The update is that Wyatt has two healed cracked ribs. Jen and Eric had no idea of these injuries or any reason to think he would have been hurt so bad to inflict such horrible injuries.

This can only mean one thing: Wyatt has some sort of bone disease. They are testing him for any diseases that would support this theory.

All-in-all I'm hoping that he does have some sort of disease; even though I don't want him to be ill, I really don't want him to be an abused child. I'd much rather accept him being ill than abused.

Wyatt's Walker

Safety 1st Sounds N' Lights Activity Walker - Wal-Mart

This is the walker that Wyatt has at Jen and Eric's house. He has hit his head on the steering wheel portion of the tray. As I meantioned previously the walker is intended for 6 - 24 month olds.

My nephew Wyatt

Sad news again. Wyatt has been admitted to Hershey hospital again.
This time for frontal lobe brain trauma. He has fluid and blood pressure on his brain.
Jen and Eric and anyone who lives with them are now under investigation for child abuse; specifically for Shaken Baby Syndrome.

I've talked to Mom a few times now and she has confirmed that no one that they know of has shaken him. They do know that he has banged his forehead quite hard on his baby walker. He's only 4 months old. When I visited www.walmart.com last night to look at the model of the walker they have it says "Age range: 6 - 24 months". Clearly this could be the reason for the head trauma.

All I know as of right now is that he has had several tests and scans done yesterday. They have not received the results as of yet.
I'm hoping that he makes it through this with a complete recovery. Traumatic brain damage can have nasty long term effects. He's such a cute, strong baby I really hate hearing how rough his life is going.

Will update when I hear something.
