J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Series

Amazing books! Enough said.
The first book "Dark Lover" is the beginning of an incredible cast of complex and alluring characters. The Black Dagger Brotherhood are a group of five vampire warriors who are out to protect their race against their enemies known as lessers, which are humans who have essentially sold their soul to the devil known as the Omega. The lessers walk during the day as normal people trying to recruit more to serve the Omega. They are known to smell sickenly sweet like baby powder.

The Brotherhood warriors are Wrath, Vishous, Phury, Rhage, and Zsadis.
The books are written to concentrate primarily on one warrior as the lead character but all are included in each book.
Dark Lover = Wrath, falls in love with a half breed, Beth, daughter of Darius. Wrath is the King of their race.

Lover Eternal = Rhage, deals with his curse of the dragon, falling in love with a human woman, Mary.

Lover Awakened = Zsadist, scarred twin brother of Phury deals with brutal past as a sex slave, his connection with his brother, and of course falls in love with another vampire Bella.

Lover Revealed = Butch, a human cop that was trying to save Beth from being harmed by Wrath in the first book has become a major character. He's become best friends with Vishous, fallen in love with Wrath's first shellan, Marissa, and of course there's something about Butch that needs to be explained...

Lover Unbound = Vishous, a very kinky vampire who does some major self discovery is named Primale, only to turn it down for the love of a human doctor, Jane.

Lover Enshrined (Not yet released)= Phury, twin brother of Zsadist, is celibate but in love with his brothers shellan, Bella, but is now taking the role of Primale from Vishous. His role of Primale is to ensure the bloodline of future Brotherhood warriors by procreating.

This series is so fast paced, totally kick ass action packed. And of course there are some major sex scenes.

I'm totally in love with all of the characters. I cannot wait for the next book to come out. And I don't see that as being a last book either.

Thanksgiving

I had a great Thanksgiving! I took a whole week off and enjoyed staying home with Madison.

We had Shawna, Rob, and Efrim stay with us over the holiday. It was tons of fun. The kids played together very well. We took them to the park nearly everyday.

We had dinner at Uncle Dee and Aunt Nicki's house with most of the family. It was great. Patrick, Shawna, Rob, and I made TONS of mashed potatoes for the dinner.

We also had Ed and Kim over to our house to enjoy an evening of chicken corn soup, blueberry muffins, and board games.

We're ready to kick off for the next holiday: Christmas!!!

Depression

October 31, 2007
Mood: encouraged, slightly motivated

Entry:
Yesterday's meeting with Marianne and Davida just made my issue more of an issue because it's not only affecting me but my co-workers as well. Knowing this makes me feel selfish and unworthy and like a failure. All these things I know that I don't want to be but I feel trapped and unable to escape my current situation. The things I want i.e. to do a good job at work and at home are there in y mind but I can't communicate to my body. My body wants to sit, unfeeling, be left alone from others, not thinking, just being. I enjoy reading It is my escape from my life into a world that is 100 times better than mine. If I'm not reading I'm listening to my iPod or sleeping. I haven't been able to give 100% at work for a very long time. That alone kills me.

And after yesterday's meeting it cannot be ignored, which is what I'm best at. I've developed the mind set that I don't care! about anything. But the problem is that I do care, I just can't bring myself mentally or physically to cooperate enough to strive towards the things that need to be done i.e. cleaning, working cooking etc. and a major one has been sleeping. I've corrected that recently. I've been exhausted the past few nights and have gone to bed much earlier than normal. A normal bedtime for me has been 1:30 - 2:00 am w/ getting up at 9:00 am, getting to work at 10:30 - 11:00 am when I'm supposed to be there at 8:30 am. That is a huge issue. Since I've been going to bed much earlier this week I've been able to correct that.

My goals are to care. Stop feeling like I don't matter. Stop feeling tired, exhausted, unmotivated, and mopey.

I want to matter, want to be worthy and productive at work and home.

I want to be less snappy, tense, and irritable. I want to be happy but I don't want to fake it, which I'm pretty sure I'm good at faking; until now. I'm an open book now -- quite literally too.

I want to be excited to go to work and want to do a good job at what I do - not just do the minimum that is expected from me but to do as I used to, which was above and beyond what is expected. I used to enjoy working at 110% but now I find it a struggle to emit 50%. The same is true for home too.

Too Much Traveling!

I've been away on business this past week, returned on Wednesday. I was attending the American Library Association Annual Conference (ALA) in Washington, D.C. It's a large trade show for librarians to browse the publishing houses and such.

It was by far the most boring thing I've done in a long time! There were hardly any attendees in our booth at any given amount of time. I didn't have to arrange any author signings or catering like at BEA so I basically just stood around for 8 hours. And I did that for 5 days! Unlike BEA I had a lot of time out of the booth as well to wander around the exhibit halls.

The hotel I stayed at was fabulous! The Fairmont Washington on M & 24th. It had a large bathroom, small patio, and a stocked refrigerator. And it wasn't too pricey at $199/night, with the group rate. The internet wasn't so great. They didn't offer wireless in the rooms so I had to sit at the desk to play WoW.

My next trip is August 23-24 for the Sales Conference in Alexandria, VA.

My Birthday

I turn 24 today.

Patrick was a sweetheart and invited our mutual friends over for a small get-together. It was fun. We played Cranium and watched "The Office".

I really appreciate the lovely gifts that I received. Bobby and Kristy gave me a $50 gift certificate to Old Navy!!! HOLY CRAP! Thanks so much guys! You didn't have to get me anything let alone $50!!! To OLD NAVY!

Mike and Heather gave me a very cute card. Lori and Kevin gave me a cute card as well, with a IOU WoW gift card. And Patrick gave me a lovely card as well with a 100grand (candy bar!).

Mom and Darryl gave me a card with three cards inside it. Ultimately it ended up being a $45 gift card for the Valley Mall. Thanks guys! I can use it at any store (OLD NAVY!!!) in the Valley Mall.

Lastly, I hope to have a great, low stress day tomorrow (today!) as I've been having some pretty stressful days at work this past week. We are hoping to get some yard work done, yet we are expecting some rain and snow (wtf?) this weekend as well. Not sure if we'll get any of that done.....

Hearing on Monday

Mom was over this evening. She said Jen has a hearing on Monday at 2:00 pm. They should be able to decide if Wyatt can go home with Jen. Eric has moved out and in with his aunt. Mom is planning to attend on Monday. She asked that I go shopping with her on Sunday to buy a nice outfit. That'll be fun.

It's technically my birthday already.

Abuser?

Mom just called me at work and told me that Eric has confessed to the injuries that Wyatt has received.
I don't know anything else beyond this.

I know that Patrick is planning to attend the court hearing on Thursday. However, with this new information I'm not sure if it will still go on as scheduled. It may still be planned in order to release Wyatt from the hospital and into Jen's care. Hopefully it will result in Jen getting Wyatt back.

I don't think she and Wyatt should live in Eric's parents home anymore. They need to live in a much more stable and loving home from now on out. I'll talk to Patrick this evening to see what we can do to help them out.

Will update when I know more.

Updates?

Message from Mom:
I went to the meeting this morning and they were supposed to sign papers. They both refused and the woman said "I will sign them for you". They told her that they refused because they are not guilty of the abuse.

They are getting an attorney. Eric's dad is getting a 2nd mortgage to pay for it.

I am going Thursday at 1:00p.m. to the Court House to be there for moral support for them.

I don't know what else I can do for them at this point of time.

Taking Wyatt

Franklin: Children & Youth Service

Mom just called crying, they have concluded that Wyatt's injuries do not match the testimonies that Jen and Eric gave. They stated that his injuries have not been owned up by anyone.

We'll find out more on Thursday when they see a judge.

Sad times.

Children of the Youth

Jen and Eric met with Children of the Youth this morning to determine their involvement, or lack there of, in the abuse of Wyatt. Mom said they separated them into different conference rooms and asked them questions about the days before them taking him to the hospital and so forth. She also mentioned that no one told COTY about Wyatt's recesitation in Waynesboro Hospital the first time he was admitted to Hershey. The chest compressions certainly could have caused his fractured ribs. Mom said they will be performing a MRI on Wyatt today to see if there are any more bone fractures. Jen and Eric should hear back from COTY today. Jen has requested, in case of removal of Wyatt from their care, that either Mom/Dad or Patrick/I take care of Wyatt until this is all taken care of. I would be thrilled to care for Wyatt and so would Patrick. I just hope this is all taken care of and everyone can get back to worrying about normal worries rather than worrying about a child being taken from it's loving parents.

Pill on the Floor?

Dimenhydrinate - 44 198 | Pharmer.org -- Pill Identification Resources

I found this pill on our living room floor this morning. It's marketed under brand names Dramamine and Gravol. We had Mike's party last night at our house and we are thinking that someone dropped it out of their pocket or purse. I found it between the couch and the table we set up for Bobby and Kristy.

I'm upset because what if it was something dangerous and Madison found it and ate it? Patrick thinks I'm overreacting. That's absurd. When it comes to my child I'm always going to overreact.

Pills should not be keep loose. They should be kept safe in a sealed container, preferably child resistant.

Obviously Madison didn't find this pill first. We were lucky we found it first. Otherwise would it have been something else entirely we would not have had any idea what it was.

Please double check your pills. We don't want to have any small children get hurt due to negligence.

Wyatt Update

Mom and Dad stopped by early this evening and brought a letter they had received about the investigation against the "abuser" of Wyatt.

They updated us with news from the hospital. The update is that Wyatt has two healed cracked ribs. Jen and Eric had no idea of these injuries or any reason to think he would have been hurt so bad to inflict such horrible injuries.

This can only mean one thing: Wyatt has some sort of bone disease. They are testing him for any diseases that would support this theory.

All-in-all I'm hoping that he does have some sort of disease; even though I don't want him to be ill, I really don't want him to be an abused child. I'd much rather accept him being ill than abused.

My nephew Wyatt

Sad news again. Wyatt has been admitted to Hershey hospital again.
This time for frontal lobe brain trauma. He has fluid and blood pressure on his brain.
Jen and Eric and anyone who lives with them are now under investigation for child abuse; specifically for Shaken Baby Syndrome.

I've talked to Mom a few times now and she has confirmed that no one that they know of has shaken him. They do know that he has banged his forehead quite hard on his baby walker. He's only 4 months old. When I visited www.walmart.com last night to look at the model of the walker they have it says "Age range: 6 - 24 months". Clearly this could be the reason for the head trauma.

All I know as of right now is that he has had several tests and scans done yesterday. They have not received the results as of yet.
I'm hoping that he makes it through this with a complete recovery. Traumatic brain damage can have nasty long term effects. He's such a cute, strong baby I really hate hearing how rough his life is going.

Will update when I hear something.
